Close-Up of Supermarine Spitfire Mk. XVI from swedish Biltema. Skrydstrup, Denmark, June 2016. Nikon D800, Nikkor AF-S 80-400mm, f/4.5-5.6 G ED

A detailed close-up shot of the venerable Supermarine Spitfire Mark XVI LF. Built late in 1942, specialized as a low-altitude fighter. It was on display- and flew a few presentations at the Danish AirShow 2016 in Skrydstrup, Jutland.
Today this excellent, beautiful and historic aircraft is owned by Biltema, a Swedish super-market chain for car accessories. Biltema founder and owner Sten-Åke Lindholm has a great passion for World War II Warbirds. He and his company pilot, legendary Bertil Gerhardt, added this aircraft to Biltema’s Warbird Collection. Gerhardt, a very gifted and experienced pilot, was killed in a landing accident with a Spitfire of this type in Norway in 2010.
